EARLY HISTORY:
On May 4, 1981, Valley Resource Center
opened in Hemet, CA with 17 clients and by yearend was serving
29 persons. In 1983, Valley Resource Center received
a grant that helped to establish a facility in San Jacinto. In
1985, a second facility in Perris was opened. At present, EXCEED
is serving over 480 clients in its Perris, Hemet, Moreno Valley,
Blythe and Indio locations, and over 150 others in individual
or enclave community placements throughout Riverside and
San Bernardino Counties.
LICENSE
AND CERTIFICATION:
In March 1981, Valley Resource Center
became licensed as a Day Activity Center by the Department
of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, and in 1984
as an Adult Developmental Center. In March 1984, Valley
Resource Center was certified by the Department of Rehabilitation
to provide Work Activity Center programs and received
certification from the California Department of Industrial
Relations and United States Department of Labor.
In July 1984, Valley Resource Center was certified as,
a Habilitation Services Program. Since 1987, Valley
Resource Center has received accreditation for Work Activity
Center and Supported Work programs from the Commission
on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, most recently
in February 2003 for 3 years. In 2001, our Casa del Valle
residential program was licenses by Community Care Licensing.
FUNDING:
EXCEED's principal sources of funding
are from the State of California Department of Rehabilitation,
Habilitation Services, Inland Regional Center, Central County
United Way, contracted work and private donations.
